A Campus Growing in Every Direction: Academic Achievement, Community Service, and New Construction.

Education serves as a gateway to curiosity and discovery. Our Kuwala students are actively engaged in fostering the intellectual and personal growth of local village children.

Community Service Wednesdays continue to strengthen our commitment to the surrounding area, and our impact is expanding! Through a combination of in-class academic exercises, English language instruction, and practical activities such as gardening, these young learners are cultivating essential life skills. They are learning the value of rising early and dedicating themselves to a day filled with learning and activity. Additionally, they are being taught essential practices related to hygiene, environmental stewardship, and community involvement. The positive response from village elders highlights the collaborative spirit of our program, and the children’s eagerness to learn is inspiring. Many villagers are employed temporarily on the Farm or in construction projects at the school, demonstrating the significant socio-economic development that Kuwala is fostering beyond the campus boundaries.

Campus update

With midterm exams now completed, our students celebrated their achievements with a vibrant Sports Day. The intensive study preparations leading up to the exams can be exhausting, so this event provided a much-needed opportunity for students to engage in physical activity and enjoy the outdoors before the rainy season begins in November.

The Parent-Teacher Evaluation Day attracted a strong turnout from parents following the exams. The event offered parents an invaluable opportunity to meet with teachers, tour the school, and engage in personalized discussions about their daughters’ academic progress. Led by the Administration in St. Peter’s Hall, the general session facilitated meaningful conversations about strategies to enhance student performance across all subjects, particularly in Mathematics and Science. The gathering was not only an early indicator of student achievement but also an opportunity for parents and teachers to collaborate on developing specific support plans. Parents identified areas requiring additional focus, further study, or one-on-one mentorship to support students who are excelling, thereby creating a clear path to academic success.

Construction update

Construction efforts are underway in anticipation of our expansion for the upcoming 2026 school year. We are currently developing a duplex for two Matrons who will reside on campus to provide ongoing support to students.

The substructures for Classroom Blocks 3 and 4 have been completed, and work has commenced on the substructures for Dormitories 4 and 5. Progress continues as funding becomes available, and with your support, Kuwala aims to complete these vital structures in time for the start of the 2026 school year.

Giving Tuesday is on December 2, 2025. Join millions in the global giving movement! Share the story of Kuwala and help make a measurable difference in girls’ education in Malawi. Check out our website to donate.
