Kuwala Graduates Excel: Academic Triumphs and Musical Endeavours.
The bright minds at Kuwala continue to shine as another graduating class celebrates remarkable achievements. Of the 34 students graduating in 2025, 22 have already been accepted to public universities beginning this fall. During the Canadian Board members’ recent visit to Kuwala, we also had the privilege of reconnecting with several members of the 2022 graduating class, who are now thriving in university studies.
Blessings, Mavis, Eliza, and Evelyn welcomed us with confidence, enthusiasm, and inspiring stories of their journeys. It was a joy to witness how much they have grown as young leaders. They were also excited to see the many changes taking place on campus, including new buildings, the Farm, and St. Peter’s Assembly Hall. These students remember arriving at Kuwala in its earliest days, when staff served meals in the workshop on picnic tables set on dirt floors.
In just one more year, these young women will graduate with degrees in Agricultural Economics, Education Sciences, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, and Computer Science. Each is determined to make a meaningful impact in her country, and we could not be prouder of their accomplishments and aspirations.
Music also continues to play an important role in learning at Kuwala. A group of 27 students has been working alongside their teacher using the piano keyboard donated during the 2024 service trip. Together, they are learning keyboard techniques, collaborating creatively, and building confidence through music. Their lessons often end with students combining their beautiful voices to create original musical compositions.
As a result of this growing enthusiasm for music education, plans are now underway in Canada to research and secure additional portable keyboards for future visiting teams to bring to Kuwala.
All You Need Is Love — The Heart of Teaching at Kuwala.
Teaching at Kuwala is rooted in teamwork, mentorship, encouragement, and continual growth. The administration is committed to building a strong, supportive team of educators who are creative, positive, and dedicated to forming meaningful relationships with students and with one another. Canadian Board Members had the opportunity to meet with the entire teaching staff and learn how much they value both peer collaboration and the coaching programs provided through our partnership.

One long-term teacher shared a particularly moving reflection. He explained that the coaching he receives as an educator reminds him of music. Just as the black and white keys on a piano each contribute their own unique sound, every individual possesses distinct strengths and talents. When those strengths come together with a shared purpose — encouraging every student to become the best version of themselves — the result is like a pianist creating a beautiful melody by using every key on the keyboard. He also shared that he begins each class by reciting a Bible proverb connected to the day’s lesson. By keeping a central theme in focus, students become more engaged, thoughtful, and connected to the learning experience.
