Stories from the Classroom.

Strengthening technology resources, alongside ongoing teacher mentorship, continues to enhance learning experiences for both students and staff at Kuwala.

Recently, the school community celebrated the arrival of another shipment of computers from a Canadian donor—an exciting addition that expands opportunities within the Computer Club. This program offers students a chance to explore learning beyond the standard curriculum, fostering creativity, curiosity, and practical skill development.

Through activities such as publishing projects, photo editing, and video production, students are gaining valuable hands-on experience while discovering new ways to express their ideas through technology. The growing access to digital tools is opening the door to innovation and empowering students to engage more in-depth with their learning.

Students are also learning to use AI as a supportive tool for research, study preparation, and academic support. Rather than simply giving answers, AI helps break down complex concepts—especially in subjects like math and science—by guiding students step by step, building both understanding and confidence. It also helps students make better use of their study time by summarizing content, highlighting key ideas, and supporting research and writing. With access to tools like quizzes and flashcards, students can reinforce what they learn in class. Throughout, they are encouraged to use AI thoughtfully—as a way to strengthen their own thinking, not replace it.

Form Four students have started their mock examinations with practical papers in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Agriculture. The school conducted the practical exams successfully because Kuwala has a fully equipped laboratory with modern equipment, enabling students to conduct their experiments effectively. These mock examinations follow the structure, content, and difficulty level of the National Exams. Teachers administer them under timed conditions to help students build confidence, reduce anxiety, assess their readiness, and improve overall performance.

Family and student Visiting Day. Kuwala_2026

At the end of February, Kuwala hosted a successful Parent Evaluation Day, welcoming approximately 200 parents and guardians for a day of assessments, campus tours, and connection. Staff and students showcased the school with pride—displaying Vision and Mission posters, marking each classroom with vibrant signage, and presenting a campus that reflected care and attention to detail.

Held once each term, these evaluation days provide an opportunity for families and educators to listen, learn, and collaborate. Together, they explore ways to support and motivate students, strengthening the partnership between home and school.
Teacher mentorship also continues through ongoing Zoom workshops. The second session in late February focused on “Teachers as Leaders,” led by Canadian educator Mr. Robert Palmarin, a retired teacher with 40 years of experience and current Director of Student Services and Learner Experience at Southeast College in Saskatchewan.

Robert’s presentation encouraged teachers to look for teachable moments in their daily routines and to stay committed to the small, consistent practices that shape strong teaching. Over time, this dedication helps them grow into the best version of themselves in the classroom. He also invited teachers to reflect on their lesson planning: Are their lessons creative? Do they take time to evaluate what worked and what didn’t? Are they collaborating with colleagues and sharing ideas? These questions sparked meaningful reflection and conversation. The workshop ended on an encouraging note, with many teachers continuing to talk and share ideas long after the session finished. It was a reminder that teachers are leaders, and beyond lesson planning, their work carries a deeper purpose: “You are doing good work—you are doing God’s work.”
