Kuwala is committed to attracting, developing, and retaining high-quality teachers, which is essential for the success of its educational programs. The school has implemented various resources and programs to support its teaching staff. In May, a significant opportunity arose for teachers to connect with members of the Canadian Board via a Zoom meeting, fostering introductions and discussing their mutual commitment to the school’s mission.

During this session, teachers and board members shared insights into the unique challenges of teaching in rural Malawi. They explored the opportunities that Kuwala Christian Girls School has provided for professional growth. Teachers were also encouraged to contribute their ideas on enhancing learning opportunities and to share their visions for the school, allowing them to play an active role in shaping the success of their students and the institution.

Many teachers expressed excitement about the technological advancements introduced at Kuwala. These include teaching tools such as computers and screens, agricultural instruments, science lab equipment, and student laptops, which are pivotal for enhancing chemistry, biology, mathematics, and agriculture lessons. The emphasis on self-sustainability projects, such as biogas, solar energy, and food cultivation on the school farm, further underscores Kuwala’s forward-thinking approach.

The Zoom meetings serve as a platform for communication and a means to strengthen relationships that bridge significant distances. This initiative paves the way for future collaborations, potentially expanding opportunities for both teachers and students and contributing to brighter futures while fostering a sense of global community.
