Dry Season? No Problem. How Our New Irrigation Keeps Kuwala Growing

Just over a year ago, Kuwala began building compost in increasing amounts. What started as a small pile has grown to almost a full acre of land used for compost. The idea for compost originated from the original soil samples, which revealed the soil’s depletion of nutrients and organic matter.

Kuwala has recently introduced a new tractor to enhance the productivity and efficiency of agricultural operations. This Massey Ferguson four-wheel drive tractor, manufactured in Lahore, Pakistan, was transported across the ocean and overland to Malawi. We want to express our heartfelt thanks to an incredibly generous Canadian donor! Their support has allowed us to acquire this invaluable equipment, which will significantly enhance our farm operations. We’re excited about the positive impact this will have on our work and the community!

Ireen comes from the rural west of Lilongwe and began her education in local primary schools. In 2022, she enrolled at Kuwala Christian Girls School, where she entered Form 2. Following her studies, she sat for the national examinations in 2024 for the Form 4 class, achieving an impressive 15 points. Ireen is embarking on an exciting new chapter in her life!
